Considering it’s the most demanding position in all of sports, the quarterback position receives more offseason attention and discussion when it comes to preseason prognostications than any other position and this year has proven to be more of the same.

It’s been no surprise to see the signal-callers from Clemson and Ohio State rank among the best in the nation and that’s the way the FOX Sports analyst over at the Big Ten Kickoff have it projecting ahead to the 2020 college football season.

While seeing Trevor Lawrence at No. 1 and Justin Fields No. 2 was expected, the Big Ten Kickoff crew also had Texas QB Sam Ehlinger No. 3, with Kyle Trask No. 4 and Bo Nix No. 5 during the recent reveal of their top 5 national quarterback rankings.

Trask and Nix may have ranked very high on the Big Ten Kickoff’s list, but they received very little air time or explanation other than Urban Meyer’s thoughts on Trask’s ranking.

“Kyle Trask, I just believe in Dan Mullen. I’ve seen what he can do with a quarterback, a returning quarterback, it’s well documented. I put [Mullen] and Ryan Day, the two best I’ve ever been around [at developing the position]. And I just think he’s got good people around him. Another year in a system and a very talented quarterback.”

No one cared to explain their thoughts on Nix at No. 5 but Reggie Bush did share he has Auburn’s signal-caller ranked No. 4 nationally heading into the 2020 season.
