So, not only does Akron have something called a “turnover pencil” — it is also an unmitigated disaster.

Why a pencil? Who knows. Why does it have to be actually sharp? Again (insert shrug emoji).

As you can see below, the pencil almost caused an injury on the sidelines during Akron’s game against UAB on Saturday, as the pencil holder nearly poked a teammate’s eye out:

The Zips are down 31-6 late in the third quarter, so they’ll need to force some more turnovers if they’re going to come back. However, if they do, they’ll need to be more careful on the sidelines.
