Former University of Georgia star Hines Ward was among the more than 92,000 Bulldogs faithful to pack Sanford Stadium for the Dawgs’ stunning 13-7 win over Auburn on Saturday.

The nationally televised game between the hedges was the first Ward attended since he concluded his standout career in Athens in 1997. Ward had previously attended Georgia’s season-opener in Atlanta against North Carolina.

Ward, a college teammate of first-year UGA coach Kirby Smart, went on to enjoy an exemplary NFL career, winning two Super Bowls and earning five Pro Bowl selections as a wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Super Bowl XL MVP and current NBC studio analyst is a finalist for the 2017 NFL Hall of Fame class.

Three other SEC contests played Saturday drew at least 101,000 fans.
