Dabo Swinney offered his early impressions on Spencer Rattler ahead of Clemson’s meeting with South Carolina on Saturday.

The Gamecocks’ quarterback has had a solid season despite mixed results from South Carolina. He’s notched 3,074 yards and 19 touchdowns on the season. Swinney knows that his defense will have to bring the pressure if it wants to slow Rattler down on Saturday.

“Rattler doesn’t sit in the pocket very often, they have tight ends setting the edge to let him get outside,” Swinney said in his press conference Tuesday. “He’s an explosive player, incredibly accurate, doesn’t get enough credit for his running ability, they just don’t leave him in the pocket.”

Last season, South Carolina spoiled Clemson’s CFP hopes with an upset win in the final game of the regular season. The Tigers’ CFP chance are long depleted at this point, but they’re looking for a revenge win on Saturday.

South Carolina is looking to reach bowl eligibility with a win on Saturday after beating Kentucky last week.
