Despite Vanderbilt's crowd restrictions, South Carolina superfan shares his plans to watch on Saturday
South Carolina superfan Kirk Hollingsworth has attended every Gamecock football game since 1992, but this week, he is up against one of his toughest challenges yet.
Hollingsworth has attended 335 straight games in that span, but this week, when the Gamecocks play at Vanderbilt, the Commodores have limited fans to just senior students. It happens to be the most restrictive crowd policy this year in the SEC. But Hollingsworth is undaunted and plans to keep the streak going.
He tweeted, “A lot has happened the past 24 hours! I just confirmed a way to Nashville & a hotel! I want to thank everyone with their comments about me trying go. If it’s being in a hotel room overlooking the #Gamecocks play that’s what I’ll do! Watch party at Merriott Vanderbilt! #BeatVandy.”
Not surprisingly, coach Will Muschamp is aware of Hollingsworth, and welcomes him to watch the game on Saturday.
“His streak is unbelievable,” Muschamp said this week at his Tuesday press conference. “He’s in the stadium, that’s the way I’m going to count it. I love Kirk. He’s a great Gamecock, got a smile on his face every time you see the guy.”
Hollingsworth is a bona fide super fan, so much so that he has “theUSC” Twitter handle, and his bio reads, “Biggest Gamecock Fan that you will ever find. Spreading the good word on Carolina!!”

This guy is a warrior. Has endured a lot
There were more LSU fans in the garage for the Vanderbilt game than there were Vanderbilt fans in the seats for the final home game of 2019 when the only restriction was being a Vanderbilt fan.
That is a true-blue Gamecock fan.
Since 1992, wow. He’s seen some awful things. Wonder how much money he has spent? The athletic department should be gifting him tickets, probably a good parking spot too.
I hope it pays off for him because this is the only game we have a chance of winning this year.
Bcreek…maybe Mizzou too.
The investment return is definitely in the red, but my hat is off to him for being dedicated to the team, regardless of the coach.
Wow! The streak started during my sophomore year at Carolina in their first year in the SEC. Carolina was so bad I decided not to shave until they won their first game. After an 0-5 start, and a mutinous revolt against head coach Sparky Woods, Steve Taneyhill took center stage and won 5 of the 6 remaining games including wins over ranked Mississippi State and Tennessee and the Clemson finale.
