Shane Beamer had a special game ball to present after South Carolina’s dominant win over Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Beamer awarded wide receiver Xavier Legette a game ball after the win, applauding him for a historical mark.

With his performance on Saturday, Legette crossed the 1,000 receiving yard mark on the season, putting him in elite company. There are just 4 other receivers in South Carolina history with more than 1,00o receiving yards in a single season, with Pharoh Cooper being the most recent in 2014.

“There’s now a 5th,” Beamer said in his presentation of the game ball. “Congratulations Xavier Legette.”

Legette had 120 yards against Vanderbilt, putting him at 1,093 yards on the year.

South Carolina’s single-season receiving yards leader is Alshon Jeffrey, who recorded 1,517 yards in 2010. Legette could pass that number if he has a couple of good games to close out the season, and his chances would be even better if the Gamecocks can reach bowl eligibility.

South Carolina will take on Kentucky and Clemson to close out the year.
