Shane Beamer and South Carolina are on a 3-game losing streak, and with a tough game against Texas A&M on the horizon, it could get worse.

But Beamer has faith in his team and has seen them put together positive practices as they look to get back in the win column.

During the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday, Beamer spoke to the positive direction he believes his team is heading in.

“We’ve got awesome young men in our program,” Beamer said. “We’ve had great practices this week and spirited practices. We’ve got a bunch of good young men on this team that really care and it’s important to them. So getting our guys to respond each week after a tough loss has not been as challenging as you might think.”

But having a good practice is just one part of it. Now, Beamer is looking for his team to respond to the good practices with good performances on the field.

“Key for us is we as coaches starting with me as the head coach, we’ve got to do more to help our guys not just have a good week of practice, but to have a good performance on Saturdays,” Beamer said. “And putting them in position to make plays and making sure we’re in the right frame of mind to go do that, physically and mentally.”

The upcoming game against the Aggies will be a tough one, especially on the road, but a win could be what the Gamecocks need to get their season back on track. At 2-5, South Carolina is still very capable of reaching bowl eligibility, and it will start with a good performance on Saturday.
