The South Carolina Gamecocks have been patiently waiting to see whether star guard AJ Lawson would stay in the 2020 NBA Draft class or return to school.

The wait is now over for the Gamecocks, and they got some great news on Wednesday.

As you can see below, Lawson took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to announce that he was withdrawing his name from the draft and returning to school:

He’ll be a key part of Frank Martin’s squad this coming season and will be relied upon to be a major scorer.

Lawson appeared in 31 games in 2019-20, starting all of them. He averaged 18.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
