Duke will not play in upcoming ACC Tournament matchup
After surviving the opening round of the ACC Tournament, Duke’s season may have just come to an end.
If you missed it, Duke beat Louisville 70-56 on Wednesday night during the opening night of the 2021 ACC Tournament to advance to the second round of the event.
Now, however, Duke will be forced to shut down due to COVID according to Jeff Goodman of Stadium.
“Duke has a positive COVID test and will not play tonight in the ACC tourney, source told Stadium. Looks like season is over for the Blue Devils,” Goodman reported on Thursday morning.
Duke went 13-11 this season and entered the ACC Tournament with the No. 10 seed. The Blue Devils are clearly on the bubble and nowhere close to having locked up a spot in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
If Duke doesn’t continue to play in the ACC Tournament, their chances of advancing to the NCAA tourney look slim.
UPDATE: Duke has confirmed the news.
SAD NEWS: We will not continue competing in the 2021 ACC Tournament due to our school’s and conference’s health/safety protocols. The determination was made following the positive COVID-19 test for a member of our program’s Tier 1 personnel after Wednesday’s game.
