Mack Brown has telling comment on state of college football recruiting in NIL era
Mack Brown has been around the game of college football for a while, so he knows how ridiculous the recruiting rules can be sometimes.
But, the North Carolina coach is having trouble navigating the new NIL era of recruiting, as are many coaches around the country.
During an appearance with Matt Hayes on 1010 XL on Tuesday, Brown had a telling quote, saying schools can pay huge amounts of money to recruits, but can only talk to them on the phone once a week:
.@UNCFootball coach @CoachMackBrown sums up the unruly state of #CFB on @1010Xl: “We can give a player $100,000, but we can only call him once a week."

Brown has a point. Those 2 things don’t seem to go together. Either limit the payments and the contact, or let players make NIL money while allowing more contact from coaches.
We’ll see what the NCAA decides to do with this situation as coaches and commissioners lobby for more oversight.
