Texas has reportedly made a big-time hire for Steve Sarkisian’s coaching staff.

Gary Patterson, who was spotted at a Texas basketball game wearing a Longhorns shirt this week, is joining the staff in Austin.

Per Chris Low of ESPN, Patterson is joining up with Sarkisian as a special assistant to the head coach:

Gary Patterson, who had great success against Texas as the head coach at TCU, is set to join Steve Sarkisian’s staff with the Longhorns in an off-field role as special assistant to the head coach, sources confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.

Under Patterson, TCU had won 6 of the last 8 games against Texas. Now that Patterson is in Austin, will that trend change?
