Texas A&M is still reeling after blowing a 34-point lead Sunday night.

The Aggies opened their season against the UCLA Bruins and dominated the first half of the game. A&M was up 38-10 at halftime behind a strong rushing attack led by RB Trayveon Williams. Williams finished the game with 203 yards and 2 TDs while the Aggies rushed for a total of 382 yards and finished with 6.1 YPC.

The Aggies would eventually lead by a margin of 44-10 in the second half before UCLA started its rally.

Despite their success running the ball, the Aggies chose to throw it on a critical third down late in the game, and CBS analyst Rick Neuheisel believes that decision was costly.

Neuheisel broke down the fateful series and A&M’s collapse during an appearance on ESPNU Radio:

While hindsight is always 20/20, the former coach makes a strong case for one play call being huge to the final outcome of the game.
