Jimbo Fisher details why Arkansas is 'very challenging'
After picking up its first SEC win on Saturday against Auburn, Texas A&M will have a tough matchup against Arkansas this weekend.
The Razorbacks are coming off a narrow loss against LSU that came down to a field goal, and they will be looking to get a signature win to prove they can hang with the top teams in the conference.
In his press conference on Monday, Jimbo Fisher had high praise for Arkansas, specifically quarterback KJ Jefferson, who had a veteran performance against LSU on Saturday.
“Offensively, it starts with KJ Jefferson,” Fisher said. “The guy reminds me of Cam Newton so much. He’s 6-foot-5, 250 pounds, I know he’s a giant. He’s big and strong and fast. He’s throwing the ball excellent, making great decisions. He’s hard to get on the ground.”
Fisher emphasized the importance of playing a complete game on Saturday. Arkansas’ offense has proved itself to be explosive and Fisher knows both sides of the ball will have to be on all night.
“You’ve got to be on on offense to help your defense and your defense has got to get off the field and make plays,” Fisher said. “It’s very challenging in what they’re doing.”
The game between Texas A&M and Arkansas always seems to be competitive, and Fisher credits that to the backyard-football nature of the rivalry.
“It’s like playing your brother, in a weird way,” Fisher said. “You’re going to compete and play hard and it matters. It doesn’t matter if they’re supposed to be ranked high and your not. It always seems to come back to those, that what makes rivalry games and history games so great. The more you play somebody the more comfortable you are so you know how to compete against them.”
The Aggies and Razorbacks will kickoff at noon ET on Saturday.
