Jimbo Fisher made the first significant move of the offseason as he tries to get Texas A&M back on track following a disappointing season.

The Aggies fired offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey, Travis Brown of The Eagle reported, and cited an athletics department spokesperson. Dickey joined the program in 2018 as offensive coordinator, which was also Fisher’s first season in Aggieland.

The long-time coach, who started his career at A&M as a graduate assistant in 1985, previously coached at Memphis, Texas State, New Mexico and Utah State as a coordinator. Dickey was the head coach at North Texas from 1998-06, according to his A&M bio.

The Aggies finished the season 12th in the SEC in total offense, and 13th in scoring offense as they also used multiple quarterbacks.

Fisher, who is the team’s play caller, faced questions about the struggles on offense throughout the season, and Fisher said he was open to giving up the play-calling duties, and said his ego would not get in the way of that. Television analysts have also suggested that the offense is outdated, and at times too complicated, but Fisher has dismissed both accusations.
