After a 6-2 start, Texas A&M had its bye last week, giving the team an opportunity to rest and prepare for the final month of the regular season. Now, the Aggies will be tested immediately upon their return to action.

On Saturday, Texas A&M, which is now ranked No. 13 in the country, will be hosting No. 12 Auburn in a big SEC West matchup. Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher previewed the game during his Monday press conference, and he knows that the Tigers will be a tough opponent.

“Auburn is probably playing as well as anyone in the league right now. We’re going to have to play a great game. This is a very good football team,” Fisher told the media (including TexAgs.com). “But we’re playing well, too. We kind of found out who we are.”

Texas A&M has won 3 straight games, a streak that started with its upset win over Alabama on Oct. 9. The Aggies followed that up by notching victories over Missouri and South Carolina.

Meanwhile, Auburn has notched back-to-back quality wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss to improve to 6-2.

If Texas A&M is going to win, it will likely need another strong performance from sophomore quarterback Zach Calzada. He’s passed for 1,364 yards and 12 touchdowns in 8 games, and Fisher has been impressed by the QB’s continued improvement.

“Knowledge. Confidence. Loves ball,” Fisher said. “Teammates respect and like him. They play hard for him. He just keeps getting better and better.”

Texas A&M and Auburn are set to kick off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
