Paul Finebaum believes the Jimbo Fisher era at Texas A&M could be coming to a close soon.

On Saturday, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss got their 3rd-straight win over the Fisher coached Aggies, and Finebaum believes it’ll be the last time Kiffin faces his ‘arch nemesis’ at Texas A&M.

“That was his 4th loss. He still has to go to Baton Rouge,” Finebaum said on The Matt Barrie Show on Sunday. “I don’t know exactly what conversations are going, but the feeling in Oxford, which is where I spent yesterday, is that the book on Jimbo Fisher is closing. There’s just nothing else to say. What else do you need to see if you’re a Texas A&M administrator from him that next year is going to be any different from this year.”

Matt Barrie is on the same page. He compared Fisher to the Aggies’ former coach, Kevin Sumlin. The 2 had similar results through 69 games, but Barrie believes the difference is the massive paycheck that Texas A&M gave Fisher.

“Through 69 games between he and Kevin Sumlin, Sumlin has 3 more wins. 47-22 for Sumlin, 44-25 for Jimbo Fisher,” Barrie said. “Sumlin had the advantage of Johnny Manziel, I get it, but the difference between the 3 victories is the different in paycheck. They rolled out a blank check to get Jimbo Fisher from Florida State not to go 7-5, 6-6.”

If Texas A&M fires Fisher, the Aggies will have a massive buyout to pay, but with the mixed results Fisher has posted, it seems it could be worth it.
