Rick Neuheisel spoke about Texas A&M’s head coaching vacancy on SiriusXM radio on Monday night.

Neuheisel first mentioned some of the commonly-associated candidates with this job: Oregon’s Dan Lanning, Washington’s Kalen DeBoer and Florida State’s Mike Norvell. But he also took some time to break down Dabo Swinney’s potential candidacy at Texas A&M.

“You know who my candidate would be if I were in charge? Who I’d be going to talk to? Dabo Swinney,” Neuheisel said. “Clemson wants to push him around? We’re not sure about Clemson in the ACC. I know he’s devoutly loyal to those kids and that would be very difficult.

“If he doesn’t feel like Clemson wants to be Clemson the way he sees Clemson, there is no more loyal fanbase that he would jive with than that A&M fan base. And Dabo can recruit. We know he can recruit. It would be really interesting to watch him in the SEC.”

Swinney is the midst of his most difficult season at Clemson since 2010. The Tigers on 6-4 on the season entering this weekend’s game against North Carolina. Prior to this year, Swinney had led Clemson to 12 consecutive 10-win seasons.

Swinney became the winningest coach in Clemson history earlier this year, passing Frank Howard. He’s also won 2 national championships for the Tigers.
