Texas A&M got some big news for 2025 on Tuesday.

Michael Earley turned to the transfer portal to land a veteran 1st baseman with multiple seasons of notable production at the plate.

After beginning his career at Texas and spending the past two seasons at Texas Tech, Gavin Kash is heading to Texas A&M for his fourth year. He took to social media to share the big news.

Kash’s career did not get off to the strongest start. As a freshman infielder at Texas, he played in 16 games (4 starts) and struggled at the plate. In 23 at-bats, Kash recorded 4 hits for a .174 average. At Texas Tech, though, Kash became a slugging 1st baseman.

In 2023, he slashed .327 AVG/.397 OBP/.692 SLG. A 64-game starter, Kash had 263 at-bats. He recorded 86 hits, including 26 home runs, 12 doubles and 3 triples. Kash also walked 34 times in his sophomore season and was hit by pitch once. He finished the season with 84 RBIs.

Kash saw his slugging numbers dip slightly this past season. Playing in 56 games (55 starts), Kash maintained a .300 batting average. He posted an OPS of .917 (.365 OBP/.561 SLG).

Last week, Kash was considered the No. 3 player in the transfer portal, behind Texas A&M’s Jace LaViolette and Gavin Grahovac. Both Laviolette and Grahovac have announced they’re staying with the Aggies after A&M made Michael Earley the new head coach. With Kash committed, Earley can say he has the top 3 portal players on his 2025 roster.
