When Jeremy Pruitt arrived in Knoxville, one of the first things that stood out to him was the lack of size on Tennessee’s roster. The Volunteer coach has worked hard since that time to alleviate that issue and clearly continues to make it an emphasis on the recruiting trail.

The latest example of that comes with the commitment of 6-foot-4, 315-pound Memphis native Melvin McBride. McBride commits to Tennessee over Arkansas and Louisville, both of which were believed to be the favorites to land him in recent days. Following this pledge, Tennessee now sits with 20 commits in the 2019 recruiting cycle.

McBride is the fourth offensive lineman and the 10th lineman to commit to the team in the 2019 recruiting cycle. The Memphis native announced his decision with the following message on Twitter:

Tennessee’s 2019 recruiting class currently ranks No. 10 nationally and No. 5 in the SEC. With a couple of five-stars still on the board for the Vols, Pruitt’s first full class in Knoxville could prove to be a special one come National Signing Day.
