DeSean Bishop is turning heads around Rocky Top, as the freshman running back has already performed at a high level at Tennessee.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, Bishop is a Knoxville native from Karns High School. There, he collected 8,347 rushing yards and 102 rushing touchdowns over the course of his high school career, and that ranks second and third all-time in Tennessee high school football history.

Perhaps because of that, Bishop is living up to coach Josh Heupel’s expectations.

“Not surprised at what DeSean’s done,” Heupel said. “He’s handled the transition into college football extremely well. We thought he was extremely athletic. Thought he had great vision, pace as a running back coming out of high school. He’s done a really good job of handling the communication system and it not being too big for him since Day 1. Proud of what he’s done.”
