Report: Tennessee looking outside of college football for strength & conditioning position
There are many common links when analyzing successful college football squads.
A crucial component within the winning formula is possessing a quality strength and conditioning unit.
As a means to vault into the upper crust of the sport, Tennessee is attempting to overhaul their S&C program. UT ended up separating from veteran strength coach Dave Lawson earlier this season.
According to a report from 247Sports, head coach Butch Jones is looking towards the professional ranks for some potential help. A source indicated that Jones is targeting longtime friend and current Los Angeles Rams strength and conditioning coach Rock Gullickson.
Gullickson has been with the Rams for seven seasons — and has spent 17 in the NFL. Jones and Gullickson coached together at Rutgers in the early ’90’s.
With multiple games remaining in the NFL season, it isn’t known as to whether Gullickson has interest in the job.
They need to look for a few other positions as well.
Butch needs to be fired
You nailed it. I think Tennessee fell in love with all those “great” recruiting classes he put together and forgot the man cannot coach.
As a fan, I’ll say that this is a good thing. Glad to see Butch setting a high bar. I really do think he can be successful with the right staff, but he needs all the help he can get.
I hear this is an attempt to implement a high performance training program into the off season to help avoid so many injuries.
Maybe they need to look into the Papa Johns Pizza commercials…I think there is a guy in them that played QB at UT. ;)
BREAKING NEWS: The ‘Dr Pepper Guy” has been hired by Tennessee.
