Tennessee will be losing some depth on its defensive line this week in practice as Savion Williams announced on Saturday he would be leaving Jeremy Pruitt’s program and has decided to put his name into the transfer portal.

It should be noted that Williams made this decision prior to Tennessee’s loss to Arkansas, not as a result of the game. Williams did not make Tennessee’s travel roster to Fayetteville.

He announced the news with the following statement:

“I am truly grateful and blessed I was given an opportunity to play at the University of Tennessee and I want to thank Coach Pruitt for all the things he has taught me. This 1 and a half years has been a whirlwind for me but I am truly grateful for the family that I’ve made and how much the fans embraced me since I stepped on campus. I’ve always been known as a hard worker and God has continued to guide my life but after careful consideration, I’ve decided that I will be putting my name in the transfer portal. I look forward to an opportunity to show my real talent.”

Williams signed with Tennessee out of Lackawanna College in the 2019 recruiting cycle. In his two seasons with the program, he made a total of eight appearances and made seven tackles.
