Gerald Mincey was not happy after he was called for a holding call early in the second half as the Tennessee offensive lineman’s penalty briefly halted a Vols scoring drive.

Mincey, a Florida transfer, flashed the middle finger to Florida players following a play in which Hendon Hooker appeared to run in for a touchdown. The score was called back, but the Vols still scored on a swing pass moments later from Hooker to Jabari Small.

Mincey played in 11 games at Florida in 2 seasons before he transferred to Tennessee and enrolled at UT in January 2022. He also started the first 3 games at left tackle for the Vols.

Offensive coordinator Alex Golesh previously said he was pleasantly surprised with Mincey so far this season.

Mincey at one point was committed to Kentucky before he landed at Florida. He’s from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was rated a consensus 3-star prospect out of high school and the No. 48 offensive tackle in the country according to the 247Sports Composite.
