Tennessee’s upset win over Auburn was huge for first-year coach Jeremy Pruitt. It was also a very special day for another Volunteers coach, Phillip Fulmer.

For a crucial hire as the new Tennessee AD, Fulmer took a chance on Pruitt. And when the Pruitt era got off to a bumpy start, Fulmer publicly stood up for the Vols coach and promised Big Orange Nation that better days were coming.

Saturday was the first of those better days as Tennessee knocked off defending SEC West champ No. 21 Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Rivals reporter Jesse Simonton was down on the field when UT recovered Auburn’s onside kick and secured the 30-24 victory. In a video Simonton shared to Twitter, you can see Fulmer on the sideline high-fiving and hugging people.
