Texas is gearing up for a huge rematch against the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday. The 2 teams met in Austin earlier in the season, and the Bulldogs controlled the game and won 30-15.
That is the only blemish on the Longhorns record, who have taken the SEC by storm in their first year in the conference. Not only is Texas winning on the field, but the Longhorns are doing a terrific job on the recruiting trail. That continued on Tuesday, as the Longhorns flipped 4-star DB Kade Phillips from LSU.
BREAKING: Five-Star CB Kade Phillips has Flipped his Commitment from LSU to Texas, he tells me for @on3recruits
The 6’1 185 CB from Missouri City, TX had been Committed to the Tigers since August

Phillips had been committed to LSU since August, but he decided to stay in the state of Texas and commit to Steve Sarkisian’s team. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Phillips is the No. 7 cornerback in the country and No. 13 player in the state of Texas. He is also the No. 54 player in the entire class.
He joins a Texas recruiting class that currently ranks 4th in the country, trailing only Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State. The Longhorns’ class is led by another defensive back in Jonah Williams, who is the No. 8 player in the country.
Having success on the field plays a huge role on the recruiting trail, and Texas has a chance to make amends for the regular season loss to Georgia.
The Longhorns and Bulldogs kickoff at 4 p.m. ET on ABC.
