Tom Hermans’ Texas Longhorns are having a rough week on the recruiting trail. One day after 5-star 2022 quarterback prospect Quinn Ewers decommitted from Texas, another top prospect from the same recruiting class has backed off his pledge to the Longhorns.
Phaizon Wilson, a 4-star wide receiver out of Lancaster, Texas, announced his decommitment from UT on Thursday night via his Twitter account.
Listed at 6-4, 210 pounds, Wilson has 16 scholarship offers, including Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Mizzou, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. He is rated the No. 25 wide receiver and No. 31 Lone Star State product on the 247Sports Composite.
One would suspect that Texas commits and targets are experiencing a lot of negative recruiting from other programs focusing on Herman’s Horns’ rough start to the 2020 season. Herman’s squad is 3-2 and faces a tough test to stay above .500 as the Longhorns take on No. 6 Oklahoma State on Saturday in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
