The Utah football team has once again experienced a tragic player death.
Not even one full year after Ty Jordan lost his life in an accidental shooting in December of last year, Utah DB Aaron Lowe was reportedly shot and killed during a house party in Sugar House on Saturday night, near midnight on Sunday morning.
Per ABC4 Utah, Lowe was killed at the scene, with another person left in critical condition. Lowe was the first recipient of a scholarship created in Jordan’s honor:
Lowe was in his third season of playing with the University of Utah’s football team. Notably, Lowe was the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship, an award created to honor former Utes player Ty Jordan, who lost his life after an accidental shooting in December 2020.
Lowe and Jordan were very close and Lowe was even wearing a jersey number that once belonged to Jordan:
In a tragic connection, Jordan and Lowe were best friends, playing football together back in high school. When Jordan lost his life, Lowe switched his jersey number from No. 2 to No. 22 in honor of Jordan.
Utah beat Washington State on Saturday in Salt Lake City. The Cougars were impacted by gun violence this weekend, too, as WR Brandon Gray was shot at a house party early Saturday morning.
