Then the miraculous happened.

A pair of hits from Spencer Jones and Enrique Bradfield Jr. kept the Commodores alive which was followed by a wild pitch that cracked the door open for Vanderbilt to secure a come from behind 6-5 win against Stanford.

During the game, head coach Tim Corbin uncharacteristically lost his cool on the field.

The Vanderbilt coach had this say about the emotion he showed on the field.

“I don’t typically talk to them during the course of the game,” Corbin noted after the win. “But I thought that there were some moments. I went out to the mound to change pitchers, and I didn’t think the eyes looked good. So … if we were going to lose, we were going to lose playing aggressively. And I just didn’t think we were. It was more of a challenge than anything else.

“Rare moment because, first of all, I don’t like doing that. And second of all, it’s their game. It’s theirs to win or lose, and you don’t ever want to interfere. But at the same time, I didn’t feel like they were playing like themselves, and we needed to snap out of it.”

Here is everything Corbin had to say after the game:
