Diego Pavia is feeling good on Friday, and that’s understandable after setting a Vanderbilt record with 5 bowl-game touchdowns in the win over Georgia Tech. However, the star quarterback went a step further with his expectations for the 2025 season.

Pavia has confirmed he will be back with the Commodores in 2025, and that’s a major boost. As for his outlook for next season? Well, Pavia is shooting his shot, and he believes Vanderbilt has the pieces to compete at the highest level.

“We want to be a national championship-winning team. I feel like we have the pieces to do it,” proclaimed Pavia. “We’re missing maybe one or two more guys, and once we have those pieces, we’re ready to go as long as everyone stays healthy.”

Vanderbilt did have an exceptional season, pulling off an upset of Alabama and hanging close in just about every game the Commodores played this season. The program also secured its first bowl win since 2013 with the Birmingham Bowl victory over Georgia Tech.

However, the national championship is another story entirely, and that goes without saying. Vanderbilt has just 4 seasons with 9 wins in program history, and the Commodores have not been back to that mark since 2013.

It’s great to see Pavia has confidence, but it’s hard to see a path to a legitimate title-winning season for Clark Lea and company.
