Vanderbilt OF JJ Bleday turned in an incredible season this spring, setting a school record in home runs.

He’s not done playing yet, as the Commodores advanced to the super regional round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament, where they’ll play host to the Duke Blue Devils this week.

However, on Monday night, he heard his name called in Round 1 of the 2019 MLB Draft, going to the Miami Marlins with the No. 4 overall pick.

Derek Jeter and other Marlins executives came to the SEC Tournament to watch Bleday and the Commodores play, and apparently he was impressed with what he saw.

Miami is a team that is going through yet another rebuild, so we’ll see if Bleday eventually becomes a part of that, or if he is traded before he gets a chance to suit up for the Marlins in the big leagues.
