The Matchup: No. 3 Alabama (4-0, 1-0) at. No. 11 Mississippi (4-0, 1-0)
The Venue: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss.
The Kick: 3:30 p.m ET
TV: CBS
Series record: Alabama leads 47–9–2

Last meeting: Alabama put on a dominating defensive performance, shutting out Ole Miss and holding the Rebels to 205 yards. T.J. Yeldon led a balanced rushing attack for the Crimson Tide with 121 yards and a touchdown.

Coaches: Nick Saban (174-57-1), Hugh Freeze (29-14)

Last game (Alabama): The Crimson Tide overcame a turnover-plauged first half to rout Florida, 42-21. Blake Sims set a school record for total yardage and threw for 445 yards and 4 TDs.

Last game (Mississippi): Ole Miss pulled away from Memphis in the fourth quarter, ripping off 17 unanswered points to win 24-7 at home.

Alabama wins if: They execute offensively. Mississippi’s defense is young, scary and will no doubt be fired up at home. If Blake Sims can do his job as well as he has all season, the Tide should have enough defense to get them out of Oxford with a win.

Mississippi wins if: They limit turnovers and move the ball against Alabama’s defense. The Crimson Tide have a negative turnover margin on the year, but if Bo Wallace affords Alabama extra possessions, their potent offense will make Ole Miss pay.

What it means if Alabama wins: The Crimson Tide are firmly in the driver’s seat. Alabama is already the favorite to win the SEC West, and this road win would be a major step toward winning back the division crown.

What it means if Mississippi wins: The Rebels are a serious threat to win the West. Just like every team, Ole Miss still has a gauntlet to run through, but a win over Alabama would validate their lofty ranking and give them the biggest win of Hugh Freeze’s career.
