Alabama softball evens Super Regional vs. Tennessee with walk-off win in Game 2
Alabama defeated Tennessee 3-2 on Saturday evening, forcing a decisive Game 3 of the Knoxville Super Regional in the process.
This was anything but a routine win for the Crimson Tide, who needed 14 innings to best the Vols. In the end, it was Lauren Johnson who scored the game-winning run on a ground ball hit by Kristen White.

Arguably the biggest hero in Alabama’s win was pitcher Kayla Beaver, who threw 10 shutout innings of relief. She allowed just 6 hits and 4 walks during her time in the circle as she threw a staggering 165 pitches.
Beaver also threw 66 pitches in Alabama’s narrow loss to Tennessee in Game 1 of this Super Regional on Friday. It’s unclear how much — if any — Beaver will be available for Game 3 on Sunday.
Tennessee’s pitching staff is also taxed going into Sunday. The Vols have trotted out the same 2 pitchers, Payton Gottshall and Karlyn Pickens, for all 21 innings of this Super Regional so far.
Entering this weekend, Tennessee was one of the top-5 favorites to win the Women’s College World Series at +1500.
