Though Alabama didn’t have much trouble against Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon, the Crimson Tide were dealt a big blow when DB Eddie Jackson suffered a broken leg.

Jackson will likely miss the rest of the season, prompting a strong reaction from his heartbroken teammates.

CB Marlon Humphrey told 247Sports that Alabama will miss Jackson’s leadership, but someone will have to take his place:

“It’s pretty sad to hear, but I guess the next man’ll have to step up,” cornerback Marlon Humphrey said. “Just as a team, him and Reuben (Foster) are like the generals of the whole defense. When we had that player-only meeting, Eddie was the one that called it up. When we’re playing bad, we go to Eddie and when we’re playing good, we go to Eddie.”

Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick said he’s not sure who will replace Jackson, but said the Crimson Tide have plenty of options:

“I’m not even sure,” Fitzpatrick said. “We’ve got some guys, Deionte (Thompson), Tony Brown, Hootie (Jones), that can make plays. We’ll have to see what we’re gonna do this week. It’s kind of good that we have the bye week coming next week.”

Alabama has a bye next weekend before traveling to Baton Rouge for a showdown against rival LSU.
