With the Top 4 of the Playoff field now set, we now know No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Washington will be playing in the Dec. 31 national semifinal Peach Bowl game.

For weeks, it’s the matchup Washington fans have been calling for, with several creating ‘We Want Bama’ signs for the school’s GameDay appearance as well as leading up to the committee’s final announcement.

Following the announcement of the matchup on ESPN’s live Playoff committee reveal show Sunday, Washington head coach Chris Petersen was asked if his team and its fans truly did want to face Alabama in the Playoff.

“Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for,” Petersen jokingly said live on ESPN’s show. “I didn’t hold that sign up.”

Well said, coach Petersen…

Whether Washington wanted Alabama or not, that’s the next opponent on the schedule on the path to winning the 2016 national title. Immediately after the Top 4 reveal, Alabama opened as a two-score favorite over the Huskies.
