The state of Louisiana has been hit exceptionally hard by mass flooding. Not only has it displaced thousands of people, but many homes and structures have been damaged — or demolished — in the process.

LSU and Alabama make up one of the most bitter rivalries in the entire conference. Over the past decade, the two programs have been leading the charge in the SEC West. One could say that the bad blood between the schools is immense.

However, this rivalry isn’t stopping Nick Saban and the football program from helping its competitor to the West.

Via the school’s official release, Alabama is asking its fan base to help out those afflicted with the horrific flooding. An Alabama equipment truck will be made available at several locations in Tuscaloosa from Aug. 20-23.

Donations pertaining to toiletries, infants, cleaning supplies, gift cards, pet products, and of the miscellaneous variety (such as bottled water, school supplies, batteries, non-perishable food items) will be accepted.

As Saban said, this ordeal goes beyond football.

“When natural disasters occur, like the catastrophic flooding in South Louisiana, football and rivalries take a back seat to providing help to those in need. So many people came to the aid of the Tuscaloosa community following the tornado, we wanted to try and do something to give back to those who have lost so much in Louisiana. I’m very proud of our players and our organization for wanting to step up and help.”
