TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — According to analyst Phil Steele, who has the popular preseason magazine and also works for ESPN, the University of Alabama’s performance against Texas A&M on Saturday was the best of any college football team since 2008.

His proof is a formula that he devised that grades every game based on a number of factors including yards rushing, yards passing, points scored, rushing yards allowed, passing yards allowed and points allowed and factors them in against the opponent played and even where the game was played.

Steele tweeted on Monday: “My computer has been grading every game s/’08 and last week, Alabama’s 59-0 win over A&M scored the highest ever!”

This week’s top game grades were:

1 Alabama 134.75
2 TCU 116.03
3 Michigan St 112.68
4 West Virginia110.00
5 Ohio St 106.37
5 Ole Miss 106.37
7 LSU 105.27
9 Nebraska 104.39
8 Georgia 104.59
10 Oregon 101.92
11 Arizona State 100.27
12 Notre Dame 100.10

Consequently, Alabama’s dominating victory might have been college football’s equivalent of a perfect game in baseball.
