To say Alabama’s defense is dominant would be a gross understatement.

Currently, the Crimson Tide rank No. 5 overall nationally in total defense — allowing 274.0 yards per game. This statistic is very impressive. What’s perhaps even more significant is the number of touchdowns the defense and special teams units have accrued:

A combined 12 scores have been tallied this season by Alabama’s defense and special teams play. With a defensive touchdown this past weekend in the win over Texas A&M, it marks the 10-straight game in which Alabama has scored a non-offensive touchdown.

These numbers are truly mind-boggling. Not only does Alabama pick up turnovers at an incredibly high rate, but more often than not, they score on these takeaways.

Simply put, this is a big reason for why Nick Saban’s team has sustained such a high-level of play throughout his tenure in Tuscaloosa.
