Oklahoma wide receiver John Humphrey announced on Wednesday afternoon that he will leave the Sooners’ program and transfer for his final few years of eligibility.

Humphrey (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) redshirted last season as a true freshman after coming to Norman as a 3-star athlete from the recruiting class of 2015. He was a scout team standout, earning Scout Team Player of the Year.

According to LandGrant Gauntlet’s Chris Ross, Arkansas and Baylor “could be high” on Humphrey’s list as potential transfer options. The League City, Tex. native was recruited hard by the Razorbacks during his high school days, receiving an offer all the way back in March of 2014.

In 11 games played as a junior for Clear Falls High School (he only played in two games his senior year), Humphrey recorded 66 receptions for 816 yards and five touchdowns, adding an additional 95 yards and a score via the backfield.

Courting Humphrey would be smart for coach Bret Bielema, who could always use more speedsters at the receiver position. His highlight tape confirms that statement:

If Humphrey decides to transfer to Arkansas or another FBS program, he would have to sit out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
