Checking in on the Week 8 temperatures in Fayetteville, Ark. …

HOT

Arkansas’ passing game. Brandon Allen played well against Georgia, completing 28 of 45 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns. He threw two interceptions, but completed a pass to 10 different targets. UAB is average defending the pass and allows over 15 yards per completion. Allen has a great opportunity to continue to improve through the air.

WARM

Arkansas’ run game. The Hogs top-flight duo of Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins were shut down against Georgia last week, held just 126 yards on 37 attempts. UAB will have problems managing the size of the Razorbacks’ offensive line. The Hogs got away from what they do best in the loss to Georgia, and Saturday’s contest against UAB provides the chance for Arkansas to get its running game back on track before the trip to No. 1 Mississippi State.

COLD

The Hogs’ defense. The Blazers are totaling nearly 500 yards of total offense per game and feature a balanced attack, averaging over 200 yards both through the air and on the ground. Arkansas surrendered over 200 yards rushing to Georgia running back Nick Chubb. The Razorbacks need to be prepared and ready to play, a team that is struggling to win can’t afford to overlook any team.

FROZEN

Turnovers continue to plague the Hogs. Arkansas has committed seven turnovers in its last two games. Bret Beilema’s team is desperately looking for a win and can’t afford to shoot itself in the foot. It’s imperative Arkansas protect the football moving forward, in order to continue improving.
