Arkansas’ Hunter Henry became the first tight end off the board at the 2016 NFL draft Friday night when the San Diego Chargers selected him at No. 35 overall.

One of college football’s top tight ends, Henry was the recipient of the 2015 John Mackey Award. He joined former Razorbacks TE D.J. Williams as the second Arkansas player to receive the award, which honors the nation’s top tight end, since its inception in 2000.

At 6-foot-5, 250-pounds, Henry is expected to be a real pass-catching threat that the next level.

He ran an impressive 4.67 40-yard dash at Arkansas’ pro day, and improved his bench press performance from 13 at the NFL Combine to 21 at the pro day.

Henry caught 116 passes for 1,661 yards and nine touchdowns during his three-year career in Fayetteville.

2015 was his banner season with the Razorbacks, catching 51 passes for 739 yards and playing a key role in the improbable 4th and 25 conversion during an overtime win against Ole Miss.

Henry is the highest drafted Razorback since Darren McFadden (No. 5 overall) and Felix Jones (No. 22 overall) were selected in the first round back in 2008.

He is the fourth Arkansas TE to be drafted in the last five years, joining D.J. Williams (2011), Chris Gragg (2013) and A.J. Derby (2015) in that exclusive club.

Henry is the only Razorbacks TE to ever be selected in the second round of the NFL draft.
