OFFENSE: B

Arkansas was intent on throwing the football, attempting 45 passes on the afternoon. Georgia held the Hogs well under its season average on the ground, with Arkansas managing just 126 rushing yards. Jonathan Williams led the Razorbacks with 108 yards on 18 carries, while quarterback Brandon Allen had a career night throwing for 296 yards. What drops this grade, though, is the four Razorback turnovers that led to 21 Georgia points.

DEFENSE: C-

Robb Smith’s defense was gashed all afternoon by freshman tailback Nick Chubb, who is becoming a star. Bulldogs quarterback Hutson Mason passed for a season-high 179 yards through the air as Georgia had a lot of success attacking the Hogs youthful secondary. Arkansas held the Bulldogs to five of 11 on third downs, but other than, not much went right for the Razorbacks. Josh Williams had a huge game, recording 14 total tackles. Alan Turner and Rohan Gaines had nice games in the secondary for the Hogs, combining for 14 tackles.

SPECIAL TEAMS: C+

Arkansas’ special teams unit had no impact. Punter Sam Irwin-Hill struggled to just 33 yards per punt on the afternoon. John Hensen and Adam McFain combined to be good on two of three extra points, and Eric Hawkins averaged over 20 yards per kick return. A pretty “blah” performance overall.

COACHING: C

As for his team’s poor first half effort, head coach Bret Bielema said after the game that his team did things it had not done all year and that was his fault. If you take away the Hogs opening scoring drive, Arkansas looked overmatched all afternoon. On its first touchdown drive, the Razorbacks had 12 runs in 13 plays and seemingly abandoned what it does best in the aftermath. Bielema has to figure out how to get his guys to refocus and somehow get a win in the SEC.

OVERALL: C+

Better, but not good enough. That’s where Arkansas is right now and Saturday’s game showed just that. Arkansas gave opportunities to a more talented team and Georgia took advantage dominating the Hogs most of the way through the game. The Razorbacks need to improve in all facets of the game and now have two important toss-up conference games left with LSU and Missouri.
