Auburn beats out multiple SEC rivals for in-state pass rusher
Auburn added a significant piece to its 2025 recruiting class on Saturday night.
The Tigers earned a commitment from 4-star edge Jared Smith. He had offers from programs like Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida State and a host of other elite programs.

Smith is a potential 5-star prospect in the class of 2025. For now, 247Sports Composite has him rated as a 4-star recruit. That service has him as the No. 57 overall player and the No. 5 edge in the country for this cycle. He’s also ranked as the No. 4 player from the state of Alabama.
Smith attends Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. He’s listed at 6-foot-6, 235 pounds.
Auburn is now up to 22 commits in the class of 2025. Hugh Freeze and his staff are off to a strong start this cycle, which includes 11 commits from in-state recruits. Auburn’s class is ranked No. 5 nationally at this point in the cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
