Auburn RB commit Asa Martin received a big honor in the state of Alabama.

Martin, from Decatur, was named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year after posting eye-popping numbers during his senior season. Martin rushed for 2,228 yards and 33 TDs in 2017, while also added 20 catches for 399 yards and two more TDs.

Martin, listed at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, is rated as a 4-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 9 overall RB and the state of Alabama’s No. 6 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He committed to Auburn back on August 24.

Gus Malzahn has several weapons returning on offense, but Martin could be a big-time talent and could give the Tigers another difference-maker in 2018.
