Auburn fans hoping for a rematch of the 2014 BCS National Championship may get their wish.

The Tigers and Florida State Seminoles are discussing a possible neutral-site game in 2018, the Palm Beach Post reported.

If the teams sign a contract, they will face off in Jacksonville. FSU already is set to play Notre Dame in ’18. The Seminoles are set to open ’16 against Ole Miss in Orlando and also are working toward a game against Alabama in Atlanta to open the ’17 season.

The Tigers lost to FSU, 34-31, on a last-minute Jameis Winston touchdown pass in the ’13 season national title game. The teams played often in the 1980s, and Auburn holds an overall series lead of 13-5-1.

FSU’s Jimbo Fisher coached quarterbacks at Auburn for six seasons starting in 1993.

Auburn still needs to schedule a power-conference opponent in ’18 and ’19 to meet SEC requirements. The Tigers have games scheduled against Louisville (2015), Clemson (2016, 2017) and Cal (2020, 2021).
