Auburn freshman Woody Barrett shared an interesting tweet Sunday, which could cause quite a bit of speculation.

The since deleted tweet could imply that Barrett will play this week against Alabama A&M, which would effectively burn his redshirt.

Auburn is coming off a 13-7 upset loss to Georgia, which saw starting quarterback Sean White struggle. The tweet could have been an unrelated coincidence, but it’s worth looking into, especially since Barrett deleted shortly after.

Ole Miss made a similar move before Saturday’s win over Texas A&M. The Rebels burned five-star quarterback Shea Patterson’s redshirt and saw the freshman throw 338 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 25 of 42 passing.

Barrett rated as a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback, as well as the No. 219 overall player from the 2016 national recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Perhaps the move can give Auburn a boost with two games remaining. The Tigers will face Alabama A&M at Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday before their matchup at Alabama in the Iron Bowl.
