Auburn added a big-time in-state recruit to its 2025 class on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers landed a commitment from 4-star safety Eric Winters, beating out programs such as Georgia, Tennessee and Miami for his pledge.

He shared the news of his commitment with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Saturday afternoon:

Winters is a huge recruiting win for Hugh Freeze and this Auburn staff. He’s the No. 65 overall player and the No. 7 safety in the country for this recruiting class, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 5 player from the state of Alabama.

Winters attends Enterprise High School in Enterprise, Alabama. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds.

His decision comes following an official visit to Georgia last weekend. Winters has also made trips to Florida State and Miami in recent weeks. However, he made multiple visits to Auburn last fall and initially picked up an offer from the Tigers back in February of 2023.

Auburn is off to a remarkable start in the class of 2025. The Tigers are now up to 15 commits in this cycle. Overall, the group sits at No. 6 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
