The Auburn Tigers are 2-0 heading into its bye week, and have several positives to take with them as they begin to look toward a matchup with the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, Kan. Let’s take a look inside the numbers of the Tigers’ first two outings.

The Good

660: Rushing yards gained by that unstoppable rushing attack. They’ve surpassed the 300-yard mark in each of the first two games, showing no drop off from 2013. Auburn’s averaging 6.7 yards per carry and are certain to have one, perhaps two, 1,000-yard rushers this season.

100: The percentage the Tigers are converting in the red zone through its first two games. If they get inside the 20, you can essentially book them coming away with points.

52: The number of points per game Auburn has averaged in its first two games of the 2014 campaign. That number is ahead of the pace set by last year’s offense, and has to be comforting for head coach Gus Malzahn knowing his team can outscore virtually anyone in the country.

The Bad:

214: Passing yards Auburn is averaging in its first two games. 101 of those came last week against San Jose State. It’s been well documented that the Tigers have to be more effective throwing the ball, we’ll see if the off week helps them.

31:03: The average time of possession for Auburn’s opponents, three minutes greater than that of the Tigers. Not a huge concern, given their offensive style, but there may come a game when they need to dominate time of possession and we have yet to see them do that.

50: The percentage Auburn opponents’ are converting on touchdowns in the red zone. Yeah, this is a little nitpicky, but you’d like to see that number drop to about 33 percent if you’re Ellis Johnson.
