The only person who’s receiving more blame than Gus Malzahn for Auburn’s disappointing season is probably quarterback Jarrett Stidham.

But that apparently hasn’t put a dent in his draft stock.

Jim Nagy, the Senior Bowl executive director who has experience as an NFL scout, said in an AL.com report Thursday that Stidham is still highly thought of in league circles. While he conceded that Stidham’s prospects as a 2019 first-round pick have taken a hit, Nagy maintained that pro teams are still intrigued by the junior’s skill set.

Nagy pointed to Stidham’s performance in the Tigers’ 30-24 loss to Tennessee last Saturday, which he recently evaluated.

“I was expecting to see something a lot worse,” Nagy told AL.com “…I didn’t think Jarrett played all that bad against Tennessee. He threw one pick where he forced it, and then the other one was on an ill-conceived gadget play that didn’t make a lot of sense to me running it. But he still looks like a really high draftable quarterback in my eyes.”

Stidham completed 28 of 45 passes for 322 yards, two scores and a pair of interceptions against the Vols as Auburn fell to 4-3 and 1-3 in the SEC, a steep decline for a preseason top-10 team. Yet for as much as the Tigers’ offense has struggled, Stidham’s draft stock seemingly hasn’t dropped too much.
