Auburn’s pre-game pageantry includes the flight of a golden eagle all across the stadium before touching down at midfield.

This tradition first started in 1930, and has been continuous since 1960. As soon as the eagle (named Nova) gets to the center of the field, the crowd yells in unison “War Eagle.”

On Saturday night, Nova had a bit of a flight mishap en route to the field. As AL.com’s video shows, the beautiful animal narrowly missed crashing into both goal posts. Nova was able to compose itself, swoop around the post, and calmly fly to midfield.

This bit of adrenaline must’ve gotten the crowd going ahead of Auburn’s game versus Alabama A&M.
