The 2016 NFL Draft came and went without former Auburn linebacker Cassanova McKinzy hearing his name called during the league’s seven round annual event. However, thanks to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McKinzy was given a shot by signing him immediately after the draft as an undrafted free agent.

Now that McKinzy has been given his chance, he’s looking to make the most of it during his first NFL training camp. So how’s he doing after the initial day of camp? The best person to ask would probably be tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who McKinzy laid out Saturday:

If it’s true that first impressions are the strongest, McKinzy is off to a great start. The former Auburn standout was a popular choice to be interview following his strong showing and he talked about his style of player after day one of practice.

“Those pads, you’ve got them on for a reason,” McKinzy said to reporters after practice. “It’s the physical part of the game.”

One thing is for certain, McKinzy’s got that part of his game down for sure. If he can continue to turn heads during training camp, look for the former Tiger to have a great chance of landing on the Buccaneers final roster heading into the regular season.
